Cool shades offer new 'dimension' Posted: 04 Oct 2010 10:18 PM PDT 3-d fans will soon be able to swap those cheap movie-theater glasses for a pair of designer specs. Eyewear makers are unveiling a slew of special 3-D sunglasses that double as regular shades, and the glasses will be on shelves by early next year, manufacturers said. The specs -- marketed under brands including Oakley, Nike and Nautica -- are designed to work with 3-D-imbedded TVs, laptops and other electronics. Marchon, maker of several of the brands, said its sunglasses will sell for between $100 and $130. Meanwhile, Toshiba yesterday unveiled the world's first 3-D television that doesn't require any special eyewear. The TVs -- available only in 12- and 20- inch screen sizes -- are slated to hit shelves in Japan in December, the company said.
