MILLBURN — A Newark resident was arrested twice on Friday, July 23, by the Millburn Police — for committing the same crime, at the same store, at different times.

According to police, officers responded to Saks Fifth Avenue at 1:28 p.m. to investigate the theft of sunglasses that had just occurred. A search resulted in the arrest of Charles Glover, 45, from Newark at the bus stop for allegedly removing a sensor tag and concealing a pair of Chanel sunglasses, valued at $450 in his pocket. Police also reported that Glover was in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was charged with shoplifting and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Later that day, at approximately 8:28 p.m., the police went to Sak's Fifth Avenue on a report of a detained shoplifter, who turned out to be Glover. Police arrested him again, this time for allegedly removing the sensor tag from a pair of sunglasses, valued at $295 and concealing them in his pants. Police reported that Glover allegedly broke a second pair of sunglasses, valued at $325, while attempting to remove the sensor tag. Glover was charged in the second incident with shoplifting and criminal mischief.

In other police news, a pair of Gucci sunglasses worth $275 were reported missing by the manager of Solstice, a store in The Mall at Short Hills about 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 24,
When police arrived, the manager said he believed the theft took place approximately one hour prior to the discovery of the missing sunglasses.

At 6:04 p.m. that same day, police went to Victoria's Secret in the mall, after receiving a call that someone was cutting sensor tags off t-shirts. A search resulted in the arrest of Taylor Dawson, age 20, from Brooklyn, N.Y. in a parking deck of the mall for allegedly cutting the security tags off two t-shirts, causing damage to the shirts. Ms. Dawson was charged with shoplifting, having burglar's tools and criminal mischief.

Just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, a Forest Drive resident went to Police Headquarters to report the theft of items from his residence, including jewelry and collectables totaling more than $40,000.
It is believed that the burglary and thefts may have occurred on May 25, when a family member found the front door wide open. The incident was dismissed at the time, until the items were found to be missing on or about July 7.

A Cypress Street resident reported the theft of his vehicle while it was parked in the driveway, probably about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, July 20. Police said the resident thought the keys may have been left in the car. The resident reported the theft at 8:27 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21.
